Linoleic acid is an unsaturated omega-6 essential fatty acid that plays a crucial role in skin health. It is a precursor for the synthesis of ceramides within the skin, the structural components maintaining the skin barrier. When the barrier is intact, linoleic acid helps reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and improves overall hydration.
