LINOLEIC ACID

Linoleic acid is an unsaturated omega-6 essential fatty acid that plays a crucial role in skin health. It is a precursor for the synthesis of ceramides within the skin, the structural components maintaining the skin barrier. When the barrier is intact, linoleic acid helps reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and improves overall hydration. Beyond moisture retention, it shields skin from harmful environmental factors, soothes irritation, and helps fade dark spots and even skin tone. The essential fatty acids in linoleic acid-rich oils modulate inflammatory responses, making them effective at calming redness and irritated skin.

Bel Essence delivers linoleic acid through multiple plant-based oils across its product line. Grapeseed oil, one of the richest sources, contains 48–76% linoleic acid, making it a premier barrier repair and skin-hydrating agent. Clinical studies showed significant increases in skin moisture and elasticity, plus reductions in pore size and roughness. Rosehip oil is composed of over 77% polyunsaturated fatty acids including linoleic acid (omega-6), which maintain the skin's "brick-and-mortar" barrier structure.

Bel Essence uses six linoleic acid-rich oils — sunflower, grapeseed, hemp, apricot kernel, borage, and castor — to balance oil production while deeply hydrating skin without clogging pores, pairing these oils in some products with bakuchiol for wrinkle reduction and collagen support. Together, these products make linoleic acid a cornerstone of Bel Essence's science-backed, plant-powered approach to healthy, youthful skin.
